5 – The United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP)
The United Nations Declaration of Rights of Indigenous people is an International declaration affirming the rights of Indigenous People across the world. Canadian Parliament passed the UNDRIP Act in 2021. All but a handful of countries have signed onto UNDRIP.
The United Nations Forum on Indigenous Issues helps ensure that Indigenous groups are part of decision making and solutions on current issues regarding development and the health of our environment.
Indigenous knowledge can help support sustainable development and preserve cultural richness across the world.
Indigenous groups are the protectors of some of the world’s greatest resources.
UNDRIP encourages and legislates nation to nation relationships.
Indigenous groups have lived on Earth sustainably for thousands of years in harmony with nature, yet Indigenous groups are among the most marginalized groups internationally.
